Alongside the brilliant minds from EventHouse Kenya, Jameson Events, and a mix of other Kenya’s finest event pros, our team set off for a 2-night, 3-day complimentary retreat that was part bleisure, part exploration, and full-on fabulous.

But there’s more to this story. We also tied this trip into our Project Listable journey—our ongoing mission to review and showcase East Africa’s top-tier event venues. And PrideInn? They left us not just impressed, but inspired. Spoiler alert: they’ve earned their spot as a Listable Venue Provider, and then some.

A Grand Entrance to Prideinn Paradise

From the moment we arrived at PrideInn Paradise, it was clear: this wasn’t just a resort—it was a warm coastal hug. We were greeted with vibrant traditional dances and chilled madafu, a refreshing nod to Swahili hospitality that instantly melted away the stress of the city.

Concierge service handled every detail with grace and ease. The rhythm of the ocean blended with Swahili beats, and we all knew we were in for something special.

The Setting: Coastal Chic Meets Relaxed Luxury

Set on 17 lush acres of coconut-lined gardens and soft white sands, PrideInn Paradise felt like stepping into a living postcard. Swahili-inspired architecture, intricate wooden details, and breezy layouts created an atmosphere where tradition met luxury.

Whether it was lounging at the infinity pool or sipping tropical mocktails at the swim-up bar, every corner of the resort whispered: “Stay a little longer.”

Home, But Better: The Rooms

Spacious. Elegant. Thoughtfully designed. Our rooms embraced coastal charm with plush beds, modern tech, and dreamy balconies overlooking the sea or pools. For planners traveling with family, the kids’ bunk beds in the family suites were a sweet touch. The rooms didn’t just accommodate us—they made us feel at home, just with better air conditioning and way better views.

Where Events Come Alive: PrideInn’s Convention Centre

As event professionals, we don’t give praise lightly. But PrideInn’s Convention Centre? Chef’s kiss.

This is Africa’s largest beachfront conference facility, offering over 10 flexible rooms that cater to everything from high-powered corporate sessions to romantic destination weddings. The Madunguni and Kaya rooms wowed us with sleek design and state-of-the-art tech, while the PrideInn team ran the show with the precision of seasoned planners.

We couldn’t help but dream up future events—weddings, galas, retreats—all with that signature Billion touch. PrideInn officially became our preferred destination venue for corporate and wedding clients.

A Splash of Fun: Waterpark Wonderland

Parents know: a great event venue keeps the little ones happy too. And PrideInn Paradise nailed it.

The Aqua Park—Mombasa’s first and only family waterpark—was a kid magnet. From giant slides to aquatic “Big Five” animals, it was pure joy. Meanwhile, the Little Marinos Club kept the young ones entertained, giving parents the rarest of gifts: a cocktail in hand and some quiet by the pool.

The Spa Experience: Bamboo Bliss

For those craving calm, the Bamboo Ocean Spa delivered. Think: ocean-inspired facials, soul-melting massages, and the gentle hum of waves just beyond the walls. Brides, couples, or anyone needing a pause from the planning grind would find heaven here.

The Flavours of the Coast

PrideInn Paradise served up a culinary adventure to match the setting. From Swahili nights to seafood feasts and classic Italian pizza, each meal was a celebration. Dau Restaurant and Old Town Bistro quickly became favourites, but it was the breakfast spreads—catering to halal, vegan, and continental palates—that sealed the deal. Every bite felt thoughtful, fresh, and filled with heart.

A Listable Tour: PrideInn Flamingo

On Day 2, our adventure continued to PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa—a gem tucked away in elegance and calm. We were greeted with chilled tamarind juice (yes, it’s as refreshing as it sounds), and taken through vast green gardens perfect for weddings and outdoor soirées.

Flamingo’s architecture combined coastal beauty with quiet charm, leaving us in awe of yet another PrideInn masterpiece. This tour further confirmed what we were starting to believe—PrideInn is not just a venue; it’s a vibe.

Turkish Nights & Belly Dance Delight at Istanbul Beach Cave

But the showstopper? Dinner at Istanbul Beach Cave Restaurant—a Turkish dining experience that felt like stepping into a storybook.

Later that evening, we visited PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort’s Istanbul Beach Cave Restaurant for a complimentary Turkish feast tailored for our Event Planners’ Weekend Getaway. Set in a cave-like space with ocean views, the atmosphere was enchanting, blending rustic charm with the soothing sound of waves.

The menu was a delightful journey through Turkish cuisine, starting with a vibrant Mix Meze platter featuring creamy hummus, spicy ezme, smoky patlican (eggplant salad), babagannus, and tangy tzatziki, all paired with warm pita bread. A fresh Mixed Garden Salad followed, adding a crisp contrast. For soup, we savored the comforting Lentil Soup and the rich Lamb Tandoori Soup, both bursting with authentic flavors.

The main course was a feast of Mixed Kebab—succulent Adana kebab, beef kebab, lamb chops, meatballs, and chicken kebab, alongside tender chicken wings, all served with fluffy bulgur rice, golden French fries, and more pita bread. The Beef Guvec stole the show for many of us, a hearty stew with beef fillet, tomatoes, baby onions, baby potatoes, bell peppers, and oregano, seasoned with black pepper for a subtle kick. Dessert was a sweet finale with Turkish Desserts like honey-drizzled baklava and assorted fruits, paired with aromatic Turkish Tea and Coffee that warmed our hearts.

Ruthy the belly dancer stole the show! Sis was twirling and shimmying like she was born for it, and we were all left with our mouths open at how she was moving her waist like she’s boneless. The PrideInn crew joined in, teaching us some moves, turning the night into a lively dance party.

It was the kind of night that makes you text your friends, “Guys, you need to visit Istanbul!” The PrideInn team’s impeccable service, ensuring every dish was presented with care, made the evening truly unforgettable.
