Uganda – Our Conference Venues in Kampala visit.
There is something about Kampala that immediately tells you this city is preparing for bigger things.

Kampala, Uganda – The Pearl of Africa
The first thing you notice when you arrive is the landscape. Kampala is built across several hills, giving the city a unique movement and character unlike most East African capitals. From Kololo, where our HQ team stayed during our recent pre-event planning visit, you can see the city stretching across the hills, cranes rising in different corners, roads expanding, new developments coming up, and hospitality brands investing heavily into the future of conferencing.

Kampala is growing fast.
And with that growth, the demand for high-quality conference venues in Kampala is also rising rapidly.
At Billion Events EA, one thing we believe strongly in is physically understanding destinations before executing events there. As part of preparations for an upcoming regional event this May, our team travelled to Uganda to conduct venue assessments, meetings, supplier alignment, and hospitality partnership renewals.
What started as a routine pre-event planning trip quickly became something more.
We found a Kampala that is quietly positioning itself as one of East Africa’s strongest destinations for conferences, executive meetings, summits, gala dinners, and international events.
Interestingly, Kampala can sometimes feel deceptively small on the map. Distances are not necessarily long in kilometres, but because of the hills and winding roads, movement around the city feels like weaving through layers of a growing urban landscape. The good thing however is that many of the best conference venues in Kampala remain relatively accessible from each other, making delegate movement and event logistics manageable when planned properly.
During our visit together with our local team, we toured more than ten hotels and event spaces across the city. After detailed assessments, we narrowed our ranking to four standout venues that we believe are shaping the future of conferencing in Uganda.

For corporate organisations, NGOs, embassies, development agencies, multinational brands, and international associations looking for reliable conference facilities in Uganda, these are among the venues worth serious consideration.
1. Speke Resort Munyonyo — The Mother of Conferencing in East Africa
4.5•Resort hotel
If there is one venue that completely understands conferencing from conception, it is Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Honestly, calling it just another hotel almost feels unfair.
Speke was built for conferences.
Not only for Kampala.
Not only for Uganda.
But arguably for the entire East African region.

Situated on the shores of Lake Victoria in Munyonyo, approximately 30 minutes from Entebbe International Airport, Speke Resort has become one of the most recognised conference centres in Kampala and one of the most established event destinations in Africa.
The moment you enter the property, you immediately understand the scale of the vision behind it.
The resort combines hospitality, conferencing, accommodation, leisure, weddings, executive retreats, and destination experiences into one massive integrated ecosystem.
And then there is the conference infrastructure itself.
This is where Speke becomes unmatched.
The Speke Resort Convention Centre is currently among the largest meetings and events facilities in Uganda, with over 56,000 square metres dedicated to conferencing and events.
The venue features:
- Multiple ballrooms
- Large plenary spaces
- Executive boardrooms
- Breakout rooms
- Exhibition capabilities
- Simultaneous multi-event support
- Large outdoor event areas
- Extensive parking
One thing that completely stood out to us was the ability for multiple major conferences to happen simultaneously without interfering with each other.
According to the venue’s conference capacity data, the facility supports more than 19 meeting rooms and event spaces with capacities ranging from intimate executive meetings to thousands of delegates.
The Rwenzori Hall alone can accommodate over 3,000 delegates in theatre setup when combined.

Walking into that ballroom genuinely shifts your understanding of what large-scale conferencing in Uganda can look like. The ceiling height, spacing, lighting flexibility, delegate flow, staging possibilities, and technical setup opportunities make it ideal for:
- International summits
- Government forums
- Trade expos
- Corporate conferences
- Leadership conventions
- Pan-African gatherings
- Gala dinners
- Awards ceremonies
Beyond conferencing, Speke is also one of the strongest wedding meeting venues and hospitality destinations in the region.
The green lakefront lawns overlooking Lake Victoria create an incredible setting for luxury weddings, executive cocktail evenings, networking sessions, and destination receptions.

The resort also includes:
- Marina access
- Horse riding
- Olympic-size swimming pool
- Spa and wellness facilities
- Extensive accommodation inventory
- Presidential cottages and suites
- Tropical gardens
- Restaurants and lounges

One major advantage that will continue increasing Speke’s strategic value is the improving airport connectivity infrastructure between Entebbe and Kampala. As Uganda continues improving highway access, venues like Speke become even more attractive for international delegates.
For organisations looking for premium large-scale conference venues in Uganda, Speke remains difficult to compete with.
2. Arirang Hotel – A New Breed of Conferencing in Kampala
4.2• Hotel•
Some venues impress you because of scale.
Others impress you because they introduce something new.
Arirang Hotel is one of those places.

And what made this experience even more exciting is that we visited while parts of the property were still being finalised ahead of wider market positioning and launch expansion.
Located in Kampala, Arirang introduces a very different conferencing philosophy into the city – one heavily inspired by Korean and Asian hospitality culture.
The result is something refreshingly different from the traditional conference hotel setup most people are used to.
The first thing that stood out to us was their modern ballroom space.

The top-floor conference ballroom features:
- Modern LED screen integration
- High-quality sound systems
- Premium lighting
- Contemporary conference furniture
- Flexible seating arrangements
- Banquet capabilities
The venue can host approximately 300 delegates depending on setup and immediately gives a more modern international feel.
But the real uniqueness comes from the smaller meeting spaces.
Arirang has introduced meeting concepts that are still relatively rare within many conference halls in Kampala.
Some of the rooms feature Korean-style layouts with rotating round-table centres designed for executive discussions, private dinners, board engagements, and diplomatic-style conversations.
Others are highly intimate spaces ideal for:
- Roundtable discussions
- Leadership retreats
- Executive strategy meetings
- Bilateral meetings
- High-end private engagements
- Investor sessions
There are even traditional-style meeting rooms inspired by Asian hospitality culture where seating approaches differ from conventional boardroom arrangements.
For companies looking for something different from the typical hotel conference setup, Arirang introduces a fresh dimension into Kampala’s conferencing ecosystem.
We strongly believe venues like this will shape the next generation of premium executive meetings and private corporate gatherings in Uganda.
3. Four Points by Sheraton Kampala – Modern Premium Conferencing in the Heart of the City
4.5•Hotel
Location matters heavily when planning conferences.
And this is where Four Points by Sheraton Kampala becomes extremely attractive.
.

Located in Kololo, just minutes from Acacia Mall and within reach of key diplomatic, corporate, and hospitality zones, the hotel gives immediate convenience for both local and international delegates.
Like many Four Points properties across East Africa, the Kampala branch carries that familiar balance between modern professionalism and approachable premium hospitality.
One thing we appreciated deeply was the warmth and responsiveness of their events and banqueting team during our visit. Operational partnerships matter greatly in event execution, and having a responsive venue team can significantly affect event success.
The hotel itself is relatively new, having recently opened in late 2023, and features approximately 142 rooms designed around contemporary business travel comfort.
The conferencing setup includes:
- Three main halls
- Eight subdividable committee rooms
- Breakout spaces
- Boardroom meeting areas
- Wireless high-speed internet

The main conference hall on the ground floor can comfortably host between 100–200 delegates depending on configuration, making it ideal for:
- Corporate workshops
- Leadership forums
- NGO meetings
- Partner summits
- Training programs
- Executive forums
- Press events
One thing we especially liked was the versatility of the property beyond daytime conferencing.
The ground-floor restaurant area facing the road can transform beautifully into an evening networking or gala dinner space.
Then there is the rooftop experience.

The rooftop bar and pool area create an excellent atmosphere for:
- VIP receptions
- Executive networking
- Cocktail evenings
- Sponsor appreciation events
- Informal delegate engagement
The heated rooftop pool and skyline views also add lifestyle appeal for international delegates staying several days.
For organisations looking for premium but centrally accessible meeting venues in Kampala, Four Points delivers a strong balance between location, professionalism, accommodation, and event flexibility.
4. Méstil Hotel & Residences – Calm, Premium and Executive
4.5•Hotel
Some venues are energetic.
Others are peaceful.
Méstil belongs to the second category.

Located on Nsambya Hill just minutes from Kampala CBD, Méstil Hotel & Residences immediately gives a sense of calmness and privacy.
The property overlooks parts of Kampala’s skyline while maintaining a quiet atmosphere that feels separated from the noise of the city.
This makes it especially ideal for:
- Executive conferences
- Leadership retreats
- Diplomatic meetings
- Strategy sessions
- Wellness-focused retreats
- Premium corporate gatherings
One of the most impressive elements is the dedicated convention centre located adjacent to the hotel itself.
The conferencing infrastructure includes:
- Large ground-floor conference spaces
- Audio and video conferencing systems
- High-speed internet
- Multiple meeting configurations
- Seminar and workshop support
Some reports indicate the wider convention facilities can support very large capacities, including outdoor tented functions for major events.
What stood out strongly to us however was the event versatility.
The basement level offers massive potential for:
- Gala dinners
- Awards nights
- After-parties
- Brand experiences
- Evening entertainment setups

Meanwhile, the gardens and elevated outdoor patio areas create beautiful settings for:
- Networking evenings
- Corporate cocktails
- Weddings
- Executive dinners
- Lifestyle experiences
The use of golf carts to move guests between sections of the property also adds a premium hospitality touch, especially for larger conferences with multiple moving delegates.
Accommodation-wise, Méstil offers a mix of executive rooms, suites, and residences, making it suitable for longer delegate stays and international teams.
For organisations seeking calm premium conference facilities in Kampala, Méstil delivers a very strong experience.
