The ISACA Kenya GRC conference 2026 arrived at exactly the right moment. As organisations across Africa race to adopt artificial intelligence, the people responsible for governing it are being asked questions their frameworks were never designed to answer. For five days in Naivasha, more than 300 of those people gathered to work out the answers together.

GRC 360 Africa 2026 ran from 12 to 16 October at Sawela Lodges, hosted by ISACA Kenya Chapter. The theme set the tone: “Trusted AI: Governing Risk, Resilience and Digital Trust in the Age of Autonomous Intelligence”.

Who Came to the ISACA Kenya GRC Conference 2026

The room brought together auditors, risk managers, security leaders and regulators, according to ISACA Kenya Chapter. These are the professionals who sign off on controls, assess exposure and answer to boards when something goes wrong.

That mix matters. Governance of AI cannot be solved by one function alone. An auditor sees different risks from a security engineer, and a regulator sees different risks again. A conference that puts them in the same room for five days gives each of them a fuller picture.

What the Programme Covered

The official conference site framed the agenda around trusted AI governance, cybersecurity, digital trust, risk resilience and compliance. In her opening remarks, Lyndah Makungu, Acting CEO of ISACA Kenya Chapter, stressed the need for governance to keep pace with innovation.

The five days were built in two stages. The opening days laid the foundation, and Day 3 marked the start of the main conference, with keynotes, panels and presentations through to Day 5. The final day closed with keynotes, a closing panel, prizes and a celebration of the week.

Delegates could earn up to 35 CPE hours across the programme, a meaningful draw for certified professionals who need to maintain their credentials every year. ISACA members attended at a member rate, and the conference was supported by sponsors including Diligent.

Why Trusted AI Was the Right Theme for the ISACA Kenya GRC Conference 2026

Most governance frameworks assume a human makes the final decision. Autonomous systems challenge that assumption. When an AI model approves a transaction, flags a fraud case or recommends a medical action, someone still has to answer for the outcome.

That is the gap the ISACA Kenya GRC conference 2026 set out to address. The conversations in Naivasha moved beyond whether organisations should use AI to how they can prove it is safe, fair and accountable. For a profession built on assurance, that is the defining question of the decade.

How the Conference Was Produced and Captured

A five day conference with more than 300 delegates depends on a great deal that delegates never see. ISACA Kenya Chapter worked with Billion Events East Africa as its event partner. Billion brought in Sound Fusion for the stage, audiovisual and lighting production, ran the photography and video coverage, and provided corporate MC Ian Muiruri to host the conference.

The coverage team of three photographers, three videographers and a reels creator documented the week as it happened. That gave the chapter content to share during the conference and a record that extends the value of the ISACA Kenya GRC conference 2026 well beyond the five days. A behind the scenes account of the production is available separately.

From Naivasha to the Next Edition

GRC 360 has grown into a fixture on the regional calendar. The 2025 edition took place at Lake Naivasha Resort, and the 2026 edition built on it with a sharper focus on AI.

For delegates, the value of the ISACA Kenya GRC conference 2026 will show in the months ahead, in the policies they write, the controls they test and the questions they ask before AI systems go live. For the wider region, the conference was a reminder that Africa’s governance professionals are not waiting for frameworks to arrive from elsewhere. They are building them now.
